North London Model Flying Club
Welcome to the website of the North London R/C Model Flying Club.
The Club can trace it's earliest Member back to the 1950's when flying on what was then Hendon Airfield where the original Members flew as the Aeronautical "wing" of the North London Model Engineering Society.
During 1968 the Club lost the use of Hendon which became a Housing Estate and the Hendon Museum.
By great good fortune, the Club was introduced to a Tenant Farmer who allowed us to use one of his fields as an airfield and we have been on our current site since 1969. However, we have retained our original name.
Over the years we have seen a number of improvements in our facilities and we now enjoy a great Club and Flying Field, believed to be amongst the best grass strips in the country but we intend to continue to improve/add to these facilities in the future.
Although we are mainly a Radio Control Club, our Members also enjoy free flight when weather conditions are suitable. In addition some of the earliest "large" models were produced and flown by large model pioneers during the early 1970's.
Our Scale Day "Fly-In" is claimed to have been the earliest "Fly-In" in the UK and has been an uninterrupted annual event ever since 1969. We also host other Open Days, which vary slightly according to general interest over the years, but which are currently "Scale Day", "Glider Day", and "Large Model Day" where flying and non-flying visitors are always welcome.
